Wendy King
Funeral Celebrant

I would like to take this opportunity to give you a warm welcome and to tell you a little bit about myself.
I moved to Derbyshire last year, having previously lived in the East Riding countryside, and before that on the North Yorkshire Coast. In January, I became a Granny and the opportunity to be closer to family presented itself. I couldn't have been more pleased (or excited) to relocate to another area of outstanding beauty.
Before qualifying as a celebrant I worked as a Registrar, a role I enjoyed immensely. It was a privilege to speak to families who had recently lost a loved one, listening to their story from close family and friends who were learning to come to terms with their loss. This inspired me to train as a celebrant so I could help families to plan a funeral and order of service that not only a celebration of life but one that the family could take great comfort from.
And me? I like to think I'm a kind and caring person. I am patient, empathetic and a good listener.
Please feel free to get in touch if I can be of assistance to you and your family.

Do we need to have anything ready for your visit?

Not at all. The first visit will be our opportunity to get to know each other and for me to find out more your loved one. We will take as long as we need, and can continue our contact by telephone and email. Once I have drafted the order of service, I will send it to you for your approval. This can be amended as many times as we need.

How much will a Ceremony cost?

Prices for a Funeral/Celebration of Life/Memorial start from £180.
This includes the initial interview, creating the order of service, liaising with the funeral director, draft ceremony, ceremony sent to the family for approval, final draft of ceremony and officiating the ceremony.

What areas do you cover?

I cover ceremonies in the Derbyshire and South Yorkshire areas. I am happy to travel further afield; please get in touch if you are located further away to discuss.

Is it possible to have a 'living' ceremony?

Absolutely! This is becoming a more popular option for those who wish to celebrate their life with family and friends while they are able to do so. These ceremonies can be uplifting, joyous occasions where guests can have the opportunity to share their own stories about the guest of honour. They can be the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together and celebrate a life well lived.

Do I need to hold the service in a crematorium?

Absolutely not. Celebrations of life are becoming more common place and are the perfect way to remember a loved one. A celebration of life can take place wherever you would like and we can work together to deliver a service that is fitting and memorable.
